Thornton Le Dale

Thornton Le Dale
We are only 4 miles from the lovely village of Thornton Le Dale. The village was once named ‘Yorkshire’s Prettiest Village’ and that still holds true. More recently the village is known for being the original location for the TV show, Bangers and Cash, based around Mathewsons car restorations, museum and auctions.
A walk through the village from the centre to the bridge you can call in for a cuppa and meal at the family run business of Baldersons, try their home-made ice-cream or visit their bakery. Further along on the left you’ll pass the Alms Houses, originally built in the late 1600’s. Further along there is the house known as The Thatched Cottage, a feature on many calendars and chocolate boxes.
The village has an active year of events including a duck race along Thornton Beck, an annual scarecrow competition and a fantastic local show every August featuring show-jumping, farm animals, vintage tractors and terrier racing amongst many other attractions.
Well worth spending a day out in this lovely North Yorkshire village.
